We want education policy making to be above politics and based on research into what works along with professional consensus.
When teachers are handed policies and expected to make them a reality, their sense of professionalism, autonomy and self-belief are attacked. Until there are meaningful mechanisms for teachers to be involved in policy setting, it’s impossible to reach a state of genuine policy success.
ATL members have shaped a vision for education - a new deal for young people and education staff. ATL's manifesto, created through our Shape Education campaign is the voice of the education profession.
