I knew how to sign in, knew how to do my register, knew the children in my class and knew my plan for the day.
Whereas yesterday had been a nice, gentle introduction for them, today was my first chance to see what they are capable of. We spent the morning discussing, planning and writing an extended recount of an event from the summer holidays. I was pleasantly surprised that the vast majority sat and worked quietly for 45 minutes.
The downside of this test was that I spent 3 hours after school getting to know the school’s marking policy, but I am assured I will get much faster as I grow used to it.
