This course aims to help Support Staff understand and identify the mental health needs of their SEND pupils and know where they might turn for help.

SEND pupils have mental health needs like any other pupils, and some may be far more vulnerable to depression, self harming and social withdrawal. However, their specific challenges, sensory, behaviour and learning needs may mask the fact they are actually dealing with poor mental health.

This two hour course aims to help Support Staff understand and identify the mental health needs of their SEND pupils and know where they might turn for help.  There will be practical ideas to use in the classroom to support pupils with SEND from day one, to develop good mental wellbeing and positive coping strategies.

The session will explore:

* SEND and the difficulty in recognising mental health issues.

* What to look out for and what to do if you are concerned.

* Promoting wellbeing from day one in your classroom.

* Practical ideas, resources and links to develop wellbeing in SEND pupils.
