'The Broken Window: Behaviour management for the modern classroom.'
Is disruptive behaviour a source of stress in your job? This course offers practical advice and strategies which will be relevant to teachers/lecturers/ teaching assistants.
This is an introductory course for all ATL / AMiE health and safety reps and will help you develop the skills, knowledge and confidence you need to perform this essential role in your workplace. The course runs over three terms, with one day/stage per term.
Workplace Rep Stage 3 (Negotiating Skills): The focus of the final day of the core training will help you to feel more confident when meeting managers and assisting members through negotiations and bargaining.
This one day course will look at advising and representing ATL members in relation to ill health and sickness absence, while aiming to develop an organising approach around issues.
This one-day workshop can be attended as a whole day or you can choose to attend either the morning or afternoon session. The morning session will focus on understanding key coaching skills, and how they can be used with colleagues and students.
The afternoon session will look at the role of the mentor and their role in supporting the career progression of anyone who works in a non-teaching or teaching role.
'Walk in their shoes' looks at the challenges of the school day for learners with specific learning difficulties.
Research has shown that the two most important success factors for a school or a college are the effectiveness of its teaching and how it is led. Good teaching inevitably leads to student success but this cannot happen without good leadership.

ULRs specialise in advising and supporting members with their continuing personal and professional development. They work closely with school/college members and management to identify ways to improve access and quality of current provision, as well as source new opportunities.
